What is it about?

13th Age combines fantasy adventures with particular attention to what makes each hero unique. Backgrounds influence checks, while personal distinctions help shape the campaign. Archmage Engine is the first-edition rules reference; the terms governing other editions need to be checked separately before reusing their material.

02

At the table

Play uses d20 rolls, backgrounds, and class abilities. The escalation die drives combat forward while personal character stories provide opportunities and motivations for new adventures.

Source checked ·

The public guide permits creation and sale of original adventures using the first-edition SRD's open content under OGL. The Archmage Engine licence provides an additional route to indicate compatibility; publication in a particular shop is not required.

Conditions

Comply with OGL, notices and the open-content declaration; use only licensed material. Trademarks and the logo have their own conditions, and Community Use is another route limited to non-commercial use. Do not extrapolate to second edition.
