What is it about?
Year Zero Engine provides a rules foundation that each game adapts to its themes and protagonists. Forbidden Lands, Tales from the Loop and ALIEN demonstrate different applications; Blade Runner and Twilight 2000 develop other variants. The reference document presents the engine separately from those commercial worlds and settings.

At the table
Choose a game and use its variant. Character capabilities and dice resolve actions, with risks and resources determined by that particular rulebook rather than a universal setting.

FTL 1.1 permits publication of original games and expansions using the YZE SRD under its conditions.
Conditions
Retain a copy of or link to the licence and the independence notice. Declare generative AI use in the sales listing and on the front or back cover. The optional YZE logo has conditions; do not use other Free League trademarks, text or artwork without permission. Historical OGL rules are reviewed separately.
